Role Summary:
The Senior Safety Inspector is responsible for leading and managing all safety inspection activities across the company. Positioned between the Safety Inspector and Safety Supervisor roles, this position provides expert-level analysis, planning, and implementation of inspection strategies to maintain a high standard of workplace safety and compliance. The role emphasizes proactive inspection planning, regulatory alignment, mentoring inspectors, and data-driven decision-making.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Inspection Strategy and Execution:
- Develop a companywide safety inspection plan tailored to the company's operations, resources, and risk profile.
- Establish inspection criteria for various safety inspections (general, equipment, lifting, behavioural, compliance, etc.).
- Lead the execution of inspections and ensure timely follow-up on findings.
- Ensure imminent hazards identified during inspections are mitigated immediately.
2.Training, Coaching, and Guidance:
- Design and deliver coaching programs for Safety Inspectors to enhance inspection competency.
- Train line supervisors on pre-use equipment checks.
- Provide guidance during management safety walkthroughs.
3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze inspection data regularly to detect trends and recurring hazards.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual inspection performance reports.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Executive Safety Committee.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Record Management:
- Ensure inspection activities comply with ARAMCO HSE, national, and internal policies.
- Maintain organized and accessible records of all inspections and follow-up actions.
- Facilitate external audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.
5. Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a subject-matter expert on safety inspections for cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate closely with department managers on resolving inspection-related concerns.
- Track and verify closure of corrective actions linked to inspection outcomes.
6. Safety Culture and Risk Mitigation:
- Promote behavior-based safety observation techniques among inspectors.
- Support the development of SOPs by verifying actual practices during inspections
- Conduct quantified risk assessments in high-risk situations.
- Ensure high-risk activities under PTW are periodically checked.
Qualification and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field. A diploma in a related field may be accepted with substantial experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in safety inspection ideally in the oil & gas or heavy industry sectors.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks.
Skills:
- Proficiency in safety regulations, inspection techniques, and hazard identification.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing capabilities.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems.
