Senior Elasticsearch Observability Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Elasticsearch Observability Engineer with strong hands-on experience in managing Elasticsearch clusters and observability environments in production. The role will focus on Elasticsearch administration, cluster scalability, security, observability, Elastic ML capabilities, automation, and integration with enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Elasticsearch Administration

• Design, deploy, and manage Elasticsearch clusters across development, staging, and production environments.
• Plan and execute cluster scaling strategies, including shard allocation, node sizing, and Index Lifecycle Management (ILM).
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for Elasticsearch-related issues across teams.

Security

• Apply security hardening practices for Elasticsearch environments.
• Manage Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
• Manage TLS certificates and related security configurations.

Observability & Monitoring

• Establish Service Level Objective (SLO) monitors in Kibana Observability.
• Link SLO breaches to incident management workflows.
• Integrate observability environments with various company solutions.
• Document and maintain alerting runbooks to ensure consistent and repeatable responses to common alert conditions.

Elastic ML

• Implement and maintain Elastic ML-powered features, including:
• Outlier Detection
• Regression
• Classification
• Utilize the Data Frame Analytics API.

Infrastructure & Automation

• Work with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Perform Linux/Unix system administration.
• Apply networking fundamentals and storage optimization.
• Develop automation and operational tooling using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Elasticsearch clusters in production environments.
• Strong experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana Observability.
• Experience with cluster scaling, shard allocation, node sizing, and ILM.
• Strong understanding of Elasticsearch security, RBAC, and TLS.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience in Linux/Unix Administration.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals and storage optimization.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical escalation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Arabic speaker preferred.
• Elastic Certified Engineer or Elastic Certified Analyst certification.
• Experience with Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK) Operator.
• Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Knowledge of data pipeline technologies such as:
• Apache Kafka
• Fluentd
• Vector
• Experience with observability stacks and log management at petabyte scale.
