Operations Manager - Glass & Silica Industry

Apt Resources is seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager for the Glass & Silica Industry for their client in Iraq. The ideal candidate will oversee operations related to manufacturing, supply chain management, quality control, and process optimization within the glass and silica sector. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive operational efficiency, ensure product quality, and collaborate across departments to meet business goals.

Responsibilities:

Operations Oversight:

• Manage day-to-day manufacturing operations ensuring efficiency and adherence to production schedules.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to optimize workflow and processes in the production of glass and silica products.

Supply Chain Management:

• Oversee procurement of raw materials and manage supplier relationships to guarantee timely and quality supplies.
• Optimize inventory levels to balance cost and production requirements.

Quality Control:

• Implement and supervise quality assurance protocols to ensure that products meet industry and company standards.
• Collaborate with quality control teams to identify and resolve product defects or process inefficiencies.

Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste.
• Utilize data and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
• Promote adherence to environmental standards relevant to the glass and silica industry.

Reporting:

• Prepare and present operational reports to senior management highlighting key performance indicators, challenges, and solutions.

Team Leadership:

• Lead and mentor operations staff fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to support overall business objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, Glass Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience within industrial manufacturing environments.
• Mandatory experience in glass manufacturing operations.
• Strong understanding of silica processing, industrial minerals, or raw material management.
• Experience with container glass, flat glass, architectural glass, specialty glass, or related glass manufacturing operations.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, inventory management, procurement, logistics, and operational performance management.
• Ability to work within greenfield & brownfields, expansion, or rapidly growing industrial environments.
• Experience supporting factory setup, commissioning, or major expansion projects.
• Willingness to work on a fixed-term contract basis.
• Lean Management, Six Sigma, Project Management or Operations excellence certificates are advantageous
