Role Scope
Responsible for expediting procurement activities for oil and gas EPC projects, ensuring the timely delivery of critical materials, equipment, and services in line with project schedules and construction priorities. The Expeditor acts as a key interface between suppliers, procurement, engineering, and project teams to monitor order progress, identify risks, and proactively resolve delays.
The role requires a strong understanding of long-lead equipment, vendor manufacturing processes, and logistics constraints typical to oil and gas projects. The incumbent ensures full visibility of order status, supports compliance with contractual delivery terms, and contributes to maintaining project schedule integrity.
Details / Responsibilities
- Expedite purchase orders for oil & gas equipment and bulk materials, ensuring alignment with EPC project schedules
- Monitor supplier progress across engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection, and shipment stages
- Review vendor schedules and progress reports to ensure adherence to contractual milestones
- Proactively follow up with suppliers to mitigate delays in engineering deliverables, material procurement, and fabrication
- Coordinate closely with engineering, QA/QC, logistics, and construction teams to prioritize critical deliveries
- Identify potential risks to on-time delivery and implement corrective actions with suppliers
- Conduct supplier visits, shop expediting, and progress meetings where required
- Ensure timely submission of vendor documentation (drawings, datasheets, inspection reports) as per project requirements
- Track and report expediting status, highlighting critical and delayed items to project stakeholders
- Support inspection and logistics coordination to ensure smooth material flow to site
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, specifications, and oil & gas industry standards
- Maintain accurate expediting records within ERP/project systems
- Contribute to supplier performance evaluations, focusing on delivery reliability and responsiveness
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in expediting, procurement, or supply chain within oil & gas EPC projects
- Strong understanding of vendor manufacturing processes for equipment such as pressure vessels, piping, valves, rotating equipment, and instrumentation
- Knowledge of project execution phases (engineering, procurement, construction) and material criticality
- Experience in managing long-lead items and working with international suppliers
- Familiarity with expediting techniques, inspection coordination, and logistics interfaces
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work under schedule pressure in a fast-paced project environment
