Junior Structural Engineer - Shop Drawing Review - 100% (m/f)

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in aviation fuel systems, MRO facilities and industrial process utilities, with hands-on experience in design review, technical coordination and project delivery for major aviation or industrial projects. The candidate should be experienced in aviation fuel farms and hydrant networks, engine run-up facilities, MRO workshops, compressed air and oil systems, and specialist process utilities, with the ability to support projects across the full lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Responsibilities:

• Assist senior structural engineers in reviewing structural general arrangement, concrete outline, and reinforcement shop drawings against approved Issued for Construction drawings, specifications, and applicable project standards.
• Support the review of bar bending schedules by checking bar marks, diameters, spacing, quantities, shapes, bending details, and consistency with reinforcement drawings.
• Carry out initial checks of reinforcement detailing, including concrete cover, laps, anchorage, development lengths, couplers, links, confinement reinforcement, reinforcement around openings, and joint detailing.
• Assist in checking detailing for foundations, pile caps, piers, abutments, beams, slabs, walls, underpasses, station structures, and other assigned structural elements.
• Identify basic reinforcement congestion, dimensional discrepancies, missing information, and coordination concerns, escalating technical issues to senior engineers for review.
• Check assigned structural interfaces with architectural, road, drainage, utilities, MEP, and other discipline drawings, including openings, sleeves, embedded items, anchor bolts, and cast-in components.
• Assist in preparing technical queries, RFI review inputs, and comment responses under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Prepare clear draft review comments, check revised submissions against previous comments, and support timely closure of assigned review actions.
• Coordinate assigned drawing comments with design, construction, QA/QC, and document-control teams under senior guidance.
• Maintain drawing review registers, revision records, submission trackers, and comment logs to support traceable review and approval records.
• Assist in reviewing structural as-built submissions against approved drawings, RFIs, site changes, and accepted revisions.
• Follow project document-control workflows and ARX quality standards when handling submissions, comments, and review records.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 to 4 years of relevant structural engineering experience, preferably with exposure to structural and reinforcement shop drawing review.
• Experience or strong exposure to reinforced-concrete works, bridges, transport infrastructure, underpasses, stations, or comparable civil infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Good understanding of reinforcement detailing, bar bending schedules, reinforced-concrete construction methods, shop drawings, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, IFC drawings, RFIs, and contractor technical submissions with guidance from senior engineers.
• Basic familiarity with the Saudi Building Code and relevant ACI, AASHTO, Eurocodes, British Standards, or other infrastructure design and construction standards is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, PDF drawing review tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Exposure to BIM coordination tools, model review workflows, and electronic document management or common data environment systems is an advantage.
• Previous Saudi Arabia or GCC infrastructure project exposure is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify drawing inconsistencies, missing information, and basic constructability concerns.
• Clear written communication in English and ability to prepare concise review comments under senior guidance.
• Ability to manage assigned submissions, maintain trackers, follow up comments, and meet review deadlines in a project environment.
