Job Purpose:
To lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs within the aluminum beverage can manufacturing facility. The Health and Safety Team Leader ensures a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace by developing and implementing safety policies, risk assessments, procedures, and training that minimize risks associated with high-speed production, machinery, chemicals, and other manufacturing processes. This role ensures to comply with all relevant regulations and other legal/obligations of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Management systems. This role promotes a strong safety culture, ensures compliance with local and international regulations, and drives continuous improvement to safeguard employees, equipment, and the environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site’s Health, Safety, and Environmental strategy aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to management and employees to promote a proactive safety culture
- Develop and deliver health, safety and environmental training programs for all levels of staff, including new hire inductions, equipment safety, emergency response and safe works procedures
- Promote continuous learning and awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks and safety communication initiatives
- Provide awareness to the people of all legal and regulatory requirements which comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001)
- Monitor the implementation of safety procedures across all operations and sites
- Implement occupational / industrial hygiene, occupational health and well-being programs in accordance with identified risks and legal requirements
- Establish and implement robust communication and consultation channels to raise awareness, drive engagement, provide information on EHS issues including oversight of the EHS committee
- Manage the timely reporting, recording, investigation and identification of root causes of EHS incidents and complaints along with oversight of corrective actions
- Implement and maintain hazard identification and risk assessment program that reflects hazards during normal, abnormal and emergency conditions
- Develop and implement Behavior Based Safety and proactive reporting and engagement initiatives such as near miss, hazard and/or good catch to promote safe behaviors and develop a positive safety culture
- Conduct regular site walkthroughs and audits to identify risks and ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Support in developing and delivering safety orientation for new hires and ongoing "toolbox talks" for existing staff on topics like PPE, fall protection, and machinery safety.
- Work with functional department leaders to develop and implement EHS programs, requirements, rules, procedures, systems to manage EHS risk and meet all EHS requirements and drive continuous improvement
- Identify potential hazards related to the manufacturing process and conduct regular risk assessments, job safety analyses and implement effective control measures to minimize risks
- Lead investigations into all incidents, near-misses and unsafe conditions to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
- Developing, implementing, and improving process and procedure systems in accordance with ISO 14001 and 54001 standards along with maintaining accurate documentation and records for audits, inspections and certifications
- Follow up on the preventive and corrective measures identified during inspections and monitor the timely closure of procedures in coordination with the departments
- Establish, implement and test emergency response and evacuations procedures along with coordinating with local authorities and emergency services as needed
- Preparing the requirements of regulatory bodies in coordination with departments
- Ensuring the readiness of fire suppression system equipment
- Implement all health and wellness activities for the company
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills (English and Arabic)
- Able to inspire a positive safety culture and influence behavior at all organizational levels
- Communicates clearly and effectively across all departments and shifts
- Capable of delivering training, writing clear reports, and presenting safety data to management and frontline staff
- Skilled in identifying root causes of incidents and implementing effective corrective actions
- Makes sound judgments under pressure, particularly during incidents or emergencies
- Adapts to evolving regulations, technologies, and operational challenges
- Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance safety systems and performance
- Proficient in developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 45001 and ISO 14001)
- Experienced in conducting safety and environmental audits and ensuring continuous compliance with corporate and regulatory standards
- Deep understanding of occupational health and safety laws, environmental regulations, and industry standards
- Experienced in performing and reviewing Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Hazard and Operability Studies, and risk assessments
- Skilled in designing and delivering engaging health and safety training programs for all levels of employees
- Knowledgeable in developing and implementing emergency response plans for fire, and chemical spills
- Experienced in assessing and managing contractor safety performance
