VAST Steel is seeking an Estimator who is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel erection projects. This role requires detailed understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure VAST Steel delivers precise bids that align with company goals and client expectations.
Review and analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and addenda.
Perform detailed material takeoffs.
Prepare cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment.
Develop bid proposals and pricing strategies.
Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing information.
Coordinate and communicate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Review bid documents and ensure compliance with project specifications and scope of work.
Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client briefings as required.
Manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
Identify value engineering opportunities.
Assess potential risks and opportunities within each estimate.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams.
Assist in developing budgets and preliminary estimates.
Prepare comprehensive estimate summaries and presentations for internal review.
Maintain organized records of bid documents, proposals, correspondence, and historical data.
Track bid results, analyze feedback, and identify trends to improve future estimating accuracy.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Preferred 3–5 years of experience in estimating structural steel or heavy commercial/industrial construction.
Experience with steel erection projects highly desirable.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., E-Takeoff, Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, FabSuite, or similar tools).
Strong understanding of construction drawings, weld symbols, and connection details.
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Familiarity with AISC standards and OSHA safety requirements.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
