Engineer, Corrosion

Role Summary: The Corrosion Engineer will be responsible for developing corrosion-resistant pipe products for applications in the oil and gas (OCTG and line pipe), geothermal energy, hydrogen transportation, and carbon capture sectors. This role involves evaluating materials, designing innovative anti-corrosion solutions, optimizing product performance, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance efficiency and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in corrosion, familiarity with these industries, and a strong focus on technological advancements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize corrosion-resistant solutions for OCTG and line pipe applications.
• Collaborate with Metallurgy engineers to design and develop steel alloys tailored to the needs of industries like oil and gas, geothermal energy, hydrogen transportation, carbon capture, and other relevant applications.
• Evaluate material performance under corrosive conditions and conduct laboratory tests to ensure compliance with industrial standards in accordance with Natro 175 or ISO16165.
• Oversee testing protocols to verify that products meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor production processes, including clean steel production for sour and corrosion applications, to align with design specifications and quality standards.
• Partner with industry experts to integrate advancements in technology into steel alloy design strategies.
• Lead initiatives incorporating cutting-edge technologies to stay ahead of emerging corrosion trends.
• Collaborate with technology, quality, and operations teams to optimize product performance and ensure design objectives are met.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, maintaining familiarity with international standards.
• Provide technical support to engineering teams, ensuring corrosion control measures are effectively integrated into design.
• Prepare detailed reports, analyses, and recommendations based on corrosion assessments and testing results.
• Offer training on corrosion techniques and best practices to relevant stakeholders.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in corrosion engineering, materials selection, or failure analysis, preferably in industrial settings such as oil & gas, energy, or manufacturing

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, prevention methods, and material behavior in varied environments.
• Proficiency with corrosion monitoring tools and techniques (e.g., electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, ultrasonic thickness gauges).
• Familiarity with industry standards, including NACE, ASTM, ISO, and corrosion-related codes.
• Expertise in corrosion modeling software and general engineering tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
