Role Overview
Saudi Gold Refinery (SGR) is seeking a Crusher Operator in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to operate primary and secondary crushing circuits for ore processing. This role involves managing equipment to ensure consistent feed size for downstream heap leaching or milling operations. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures in a heavy industrial environment.
The Crusher Operator will report directly to the Plant & Heap Leach Superintendent and will play a key role in maintaining plant throughput and equipment reliability. Success in this role depends on precise equipment adjustment, proactive maintenance reporting, and unwavering commitment to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Crusher Operator is responsible for the following key areas of performance and compliance.
Crushing Circuit Operation
The role operates primary gyratory and secondary cone crushers to achieve target throughput and particle size distribution. This includes adjusting closed-side settings and monitoring power draw to prevent chamber choking.
Safety Protocol Execution
This position applies lockout/tagout procedures before any maintenance or clearing activity to ensure personal safety. The operator identifies and mitigates hazards such as moving machinery, high noise levels, and dust exposure.
Equipment Inspection
The role conducts daily visual inspections of crusher liners, mantles, and conveyor belts to detect wear. It involves reporting defective components to maintenance teams to prevent unplanned equipment failures.
Production Data Logging
This position records hourly tonnage, downtime reasons, and operational parameters in the plant control system. Accurate data entry supports production analysis and maintenance planning efforts.
Blockage Clearance
The role safely clears tramp metal and bridged material from feed hoppers and crusher chambers. It requires using appropriate tools and following permit-to-work guidelines for confined spaces if necessary.
Housekeeping Standards
This position maintains a clean work area by removing spilled ore and debris from walkways and equipment bases. It includes operating dust suppression systems to meet environmental compliance requirements.
Shift Handover Communication
The role provides detailed verbal and written handovers to incoming shift Operator regarding equipment status. This ensures continuity of operations and awareness of any outstanding issues or hazards.
Maintenance Support
This position assists maintenance technicians during liner changes and major repairs by isolating energy sources. It involves preparing the work area and ensuring all safety permits are in place.
Qualifications
● High school diploma or TVTC vocational certification in mechanical or industrial operations.
● At least three years of hands-on experience operating crushing or comminution equipment in mining.
● Valid Saudi driving license and medical fitness certificate for industrial work.
● Proficiency in applying lockout/tagout and permit-to-work safety systems.
● Ability to read technical manuals and operational instructions in English.
● Physical capability to work outdoors in heat and perform manual handling tasks.
● Knowledge of basic mechanical systems including hydraulics and conveyor mechanics.
● Flexibility to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends as required.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
● Experience in gold mining operations with heap leach feed preparation.
● Certification in heavy equipment operation from a recognized training body.
● Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
● Understanding of Saudi environmental regulations for industrial emissions.
Success Metrics
● Zero safety violations or recordable incidents during the evaluation period.
● Crusher availability rate maintained above 95% through proactive reporting.
● Daily tonnage targets met consistently within specified particle size ranges.
● Accurate and timely completion of all shift logs and production reports.
● Effective clearance of blockages with minimal impact on overall plant uptime.
● Full compliance with housekeeping and dust control standards at all times.
● Successful completion of all required technical competency assessments.
