Business Developement Manager, Oil & Gas
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Date: 7 hours ago
City: Dammam
Contract type: Full time
Description
Are you passionate about the intersection of cloud technology and the energy industry? Do you want to help some of the world's largest energy companies modernize their operations and accelerate digital transformation across the Middle East?
The Middle East is home to some of the world's most ambitious energy companies: national oil companies operating mega-scale upstream assets, integrated refining and petrochemical complexes, LNG export terminals, and pipeline networks that span entire countries. These organizations are investing billions in digital transformation, and require partners who understand their business from the wellhead to the fuel terminal. AWS is building deep capability across the full energy value chain in this region, and this role sits at the heart of that effort.
As a Technical Business Developer on the AWS Energy team, you will own the regional strategy for energy in the Middle East, identifying where data and AI can generate insights and acceleration across the value chain. You will draw on your own background and that of the strong team around you to help upstream operators accelerate seismic interpretation and reservoir modelling, enable a refinery to optimize throughput using real-time analytics and digital twins, or support a pipeline operator modernize SCADA infrastructure and emissions monitoring. You will need to understand the full energy landscape, from exploration, drilling, and production through to refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, and LNG, because the customers you serve often operate across all of it.
You will work across AWS account teams, ISVs, and systems integrators to shape solutions that fit how these operators actually run, bridging IT/OT convergence, industrial data platforms, subsurface data management, and advanced analytics with the commercial models that make adoption real. You will develop reference architectures and technical content grounded in real operational use cases, whether that is reservoir simulation workflows, turnaround planning, advanced process control, or pipeline integrity management, and build relationships with VP-level engineering and digital leaders at major operators who are making build-vs-buy decisions right now.
You will operate with full autonomy, identifying untapped opportunities, building your own pipeline, and driving complex pursuits from first conversation to signed deal. You will use your guile, industry credibility, and personal network to open doors that cold outreach cannot, seeking out and working with the best minds in the business, whether inside AWS, across our partner ecosystem, or within the customer's own organization, to deliver real outcomes.
You will raise the bar for those around you, mentoring teammates, elevating partner capabilities, and sharing the domain knowledge that helps the broader AWS Energy team win. You will be measured on pipeline generated, solutions adopted, and customer outcomes delivered, not slide decks produced.
This role suits someone who has spent real time in the energy industry, whether that is on a drilling rig, in a control room, on a plant floor, or embedded in an operator's digital transformation programme. You should understand a DCS from a historian, know why OSDU matters, and be able to hold your own in a conversation about reservoir management just as comfortably as turnaround planning or pipeline SCADA modernization. If you have the operational credibility, the commercial instincts, and the drive to help the Middle East's most important energy companies succeed with AWS, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
Develop and own a global go-to-market strategy for the midstream and downstream energy segment, identifying priority use cases and customer targets across regions.
Engage VP and C-level leaders at major mid/downstream companies, building trusted advisory relationships and connecting their operational challenges with AWS solutions.
Create and deliver technical content such as whitepapers, reference architectures, and solution briefs for use cases including digital twins and carbon management.
Build jointly with partners, customer account teams, and industry deployment and systems integrators to co-develop solutions for refining and pipeline operations.
A day in the life
Identify and qualify new business opportunities with energy customers in the Middle East, independently developing and executing strategies that align with regional priorities.
Leverage your network and industry expertise to build trusted relationships with C-suite executives, VPs of Technology, and engineering leaders, positioning AWS as the platform of choice.
Build and deliver technical presentations, workshops, and proof-of-concept demonstrations tailored to energy industry use cases such as OSDU, reservoir simulation, industrial IoT, digital twins, and advanced process control
Collaborate with and develop those around you, mentoring teammates, elevating partner capabilities, and sharing best practices that raise the bar for the entire team.
Proactively connect customers with the right AWS specialists, partners, and resources to accelerate their cloud journey and deliver tangible business results.
Develop and maintain a robust pipeline, tracking progress and providing accurate forecasts to leadership
Represent AWS Energy at regional industry events, conferences, and executive briefings across the Middle East.
