The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services is seeking dedicated and attentive individuals to make a difference in the lives of court-adjudicated youth.

This is permanent full-time employment.

Work Schedule:

Hours of work: 8 hour shifts with no duty-free lunch, shifts vary to cover 24/7 operation

Normally consisting of:

  • 1st Shift: 7AM to 3PM

  • 2nd Shift: 3PM to 11PM

  • 3rd Shift: 11PM to 7AM

Week-ends, holidays, voluntary and possible mandatory overtime.


This position involves a willingness to work with a diverse population, along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of youth.

Actively engage with court-adjudicated youth requiring guidance, instruction, treatment and specialized services in a secure or restricted setting. Provide for the physical care, custody, and supervision of the youths' daily activities that include recreation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, work assignments and program requirements. Assist professional staff in implementing treatment plans and reporting youths' progress in attaining goals.

Provide guidance in social and emotional growth by role modeling values and ideals that elicit a genuine desire in court-adjudicated youth to change behaviors.

In order to be eligible for this position, you must:

  • Have successfully examined and have a current score on file. If you have not already done so, you must first apply to the YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AIDE (ONLINE EXAM) posting and follow the directions provided.

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title

  • Be able to perform essential job functions

  • Be willing to work in White Haven, Carbon County PA

  • Multiple positions may be filled.

  • Based upon the nature of the duties in the position description, the individual selected for this position may be required to annually disclose specific personal and business financial information in accordance with Management Directive 205.10 regarding Financial Disclosures Required by the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act.

  • Legal Requirements:

    This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police, Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI clearance.

Commonwealth employment requirement:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.
