The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Workers' Compensation, is recruiting for a Workers' Compensation Technician located in Fairbanks!


The position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a range 12.


 


 


What you will be doing:


This position performs a variety of duties that include providing the public with information and guidance about the Alaska Workers' Compensation Act statutes and regulations. This position also reviews forms and parties' pleadings to determine, take, and/or recommend appropriate board action, e.g., scheduling prehearing conferences and/or hearings, processing information requests, notifying participants, requesting additional information, notifying parties of deficiencies in documents filed, etc. The applicant will be required to work closely with board staff, unrepresented claimants, employers, and workers' compensation affiliated attorneys to provide and request information, as well as to provide scheduling assistance.

This position contributes to the Division's ability to meet this mission, by providing the public with information and guidance about the Alaska Workers' Compensation Act statutes and regulations. This position is rewarding and fulfilling, with very little turnover.

Two years of journey level clerical work experience, performing tasks that require applying general programmatic and/or administrative knowledge and skill to complete assigned tasks. The required experience includes, but is not limited to, work such as Office Assistant 1 job class with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

One year of advanced level clerical work experience, performing tasks that require determining administrative and/or programmatic tasks to be completed, prioritizing work, and deciding the appropriate action to be taken based on interpretation and application of the organization's programs, policies, and regulations. The required experience includes, but is not limited to, work such as Office Assistant 2 job class with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.


 


Substitution:


Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required one year of journey clerical experience (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience).
