POSITION SUMMARY: Designs and implements systems for managing Operating Room supplies.# Coordinates the planning, replenishment, and delivery of Operating Room supplies.# Plans, organizes, directs, and controls inventory levels, stock replenishment, and order placement to optimize PAR levels within the Operating Room; providing products appropriate to each days OR schedule.# The Surgical Supply Coordinator reports directly to the Supervisor Central Storeroom, with a dotted line relationship to the Director Surgery Services. # EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent and some previous work experience/and or knowledge of surgical supplies, processes and/or inventory control practices. # EXPERIENCE Experience with Meditech Materials management module is desirable but not required. # COMPETENCIES Must have strong verbal and written communication skills using the English language.# Strong personal computer experience, particularly using Excel and Access spreadsheet management and computer- based inventory control systems.# # ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES: Disclaimer: Job descriptions are not intended, nor should they be construed to be, exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with the job.# They are intended to be accurate reflections of the principal duties and responsibilities of this position.# These responsibilities and competencies listed below may change from time to time. # # ######### Job-Specific Competency 1.##### Designs ordering systems and sets par levels for OR supplies in order to prevent stockouts. 2.##### Designs and maintains Meditech electronic order sets, and receives stock orders. 3.##### Performs routine audits of supplies and places orders as necessary, in collaboration with Surgery and Purchasing; receiving those orders 4.##### Performs cycle counts; working with OR staff to identify sources of variance 5.##### Facilitates annual inventory 6.##### Reviews daily Operating Room schedule and facilitates identification of needed supplies 7.##### Restocks daily, Sterile Room and each OR. 8.##### Maintains accurate inventory control procedures and provides utilization reports, using Meditech and other available data sources. 9.##### Makes recommendations to department managers for changes in supply vendors,# products, and par levels. 10.# Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with OR team members and other departments e.g.: Central Supply, Materials Management and on-site Sterile Processing. 11.# Collaborates with Surgical, Materials, and Sterilization Center managers to evaluate staff performance related to integration of operations. 12.# Retrieves and inputs Patient charge data to charge patient and decrement inventory.
