SUMMARY


Iyabak Construction, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Superintendent for various Alaska projects. Projects may start in May 2021. An individual is required to have a minimum of 5 years combined experience as a superintendent, inspector, QC Manager, project manager, or construction manager on construction projects. The individual must be familiar with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Direction of field personnel, coordination of subcontractors and documentation of daily activities

  • Provide direction to company personnel to accomplish work activities

  • Document QC requirements and assist the Project Manager in controlling cost activities

  • Assure safety requirement are strictly adhered to.

  • Frequent travel to remote jobsites may be required.

  • Performing or coordinating detailed quantity takeoffs, assembling direct cost estimates and analyzing alternate construction methods/resources to determine and improve cost effectiveness.

Required (Minimum) Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years combined experience as a Superintendent, Inspector, QC Manager, Project Manager or Construction Manager.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics




  • Familiar with requirements of 29 CFR 1910

  • Familiar with requirements of 29 CFR 1926

  • Experience in hazard identifications and safety compliance.

  • Must be able to obtain GSA and military base passes and be able to operate motor vehicles on military installation.

  • Understanding of federal construction requirements and ability to adhere and manage.

  • Experience working on federal government construction projects is a requirement.

  • Excellent communications skills, oral and written.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions adequately.

  • Flexibility in required duties.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Must be able to handle stress and work in high pressure environments or under difficult conditions

  • Analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Familiarity with other PC software packages typically associated with construction.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in fast paced environment.

  • Ability to read and/or learn to interpret drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, materials, and scheduling.

  • RMS Experience.

  • Must have working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Outlook

  • General Carpentry Skills

  • General Plumbing & Electrical Skills

  • Valid Driver License

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with military personnel, management and colleagues.

  • Current CQM Certificate

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (OSHA 30-hour)

  • AK-CESCL

The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This project also requires exposure to element of temperature extremes.

This position requires the ability to maneuver around and construction sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching, squatting, stretching, bending for prolonged periods of time; at times lift and carry as much at 60 pounds; near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels.




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Employee will be required to supervise projects and will need to be able to communicate clearly with all employees working on the job site as well as the customer.



ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS


As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
