DEFINITION
Come join an exciting summer with the Northampton Parks & Recreation department. The Rec department is currently looking to fill the position of Safety Village Camp Director. The director of Safety Village will be responsible for the many moving parts that make up our Safety Village program, including all campers and staff. Includes preseason and postseason duties, supervising and being a model leader for the recreation leaders and campers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Our
Safety Village program is an introductory, half day program that educates
youth, between the ages of 4-6, about everyday safety concerns. The director
will have many responsibilities, all with the goal of creating a meaningful and
safe camp experience. The Safety Village director will organize and implement
the daily summer camp schedule, supervise and support staff in program
activities, and coordinate planned activities and guest speakers. The director should be an organized,
creative, innovative individual. This position
is great for those ready to infuse their creativity and talent into the
biweekly sessions. Teach songs, welcome local guest Safety speakers, lead kids
through the mini replica of town, and be a part of the next generation of
Safety Village Graduates! MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications - Directors must be 21 years of age or older. Equivalent of 3 full time seasons' work experience in youth related recreation activities; or 3 years of college in a related field. Current standard first aid and CPR certification required. Training Provided. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Requires frequent use of personal vehicle. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to drive vehicle.
Ability to be physically active on a constant basis to be effective in games and activities with children.
May lift up to 60 lbs. of equipment. MISC. INFORMATION
There are part-time hours before and after the programs begin and end, but the start date and hours are flexible to accommodate college and other obligations.
