Job Description


Works in a highly collaborative team environment involving extensive coordination of the design, development, implementation, execution and distribution of communications plans for Spectrum Health, including all related materials for internal and/or external clients. Point of contact for clients. Daily and project management supervised by Manager. Produces variety of communications materials. Ensures that all materials meet established Spectrum Health brand standards. This role will work with senior leaders, marketing communications colleagues, partner agencies, patients and physicians to produce dynamic, informative and inspiring videos of various lengths and so must be skilled at interpersonal relationships with all audiences. We are looking for a professional who can be agile in meeting video needs, expert in visual storytelling and consultative in planning video projects. This individual will also be involved in helping to manage our production studio, including oversight of equipment and usage.


  • Bachelor's Degree Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required

  • 5 years of relevant experience in a work environment with transferrable skills Required

  • Experience in health care communications Preferred

Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualize, direct, record, edit, create motion graphics for and output video in a variety of media formats

  • Coordinate multiple projects and demands simultaneously

  • Work closely with the Lead Communications Specialist for live events

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the department's inventory of production equipment, hardware, and software

  • Assist in developing the video production studio

  • Hire/contract with additional crew/talent and assistants as needed

  • Work with technical teams to develop and monitor project schedules, the technical level of complexities and implementation

  • Assist users in the Studio with setup during their project time, such as setting up lighting, arranging the studio, audio capturing and greeting clients

  • Assist with Video Translations

  • Log/Scout video shoot locations


  • A portfolio that reflects a high level of video production skill, professionalism, and creativity.

  • Hands-on knowledge of professional video production, lighting, and sound equipment and software, including Sony NEX-FS700 camera (or similar) and Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder, Prelude, Encore, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.
