Job Description

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for US GAAP compliance, general ledger support, best practice procedures, and controllership project management. The Senior Accountant will be involved in most aspects of the global controllership function and will work closely with the rest of the senior finance leadership team.

Finance and Accounting Leadership

  • Ensure the business is compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Understand key business risks and internal control framework to focus efforts and look forward

  • Develop a solid understanding of the financial statements, and prepare analysis and commentary primarily focused on Cap Ex, AP and SG&A

  • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger in SAP including tax methods, and useful lives; ensure timely capitalization, accurate asset status, dispositions and potential impairment of assets including collection and maintenance of supporting documentation

  • Track, monitor and report on construction in progress for capital projects and analyze monthly activity to ensure appropriate accounting treatment

  • Ensure compliance with company capital appropriation policies

  • Responsible for lease accounting and preparation of monthly journal entries

  • Proactively identify issues and identify continuous improvement opportunities

  • Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements including necessary journal entries

  • Assist in monthly and quarterly account reconciliations

  • Support ad hoc analysis requests

  • Other responsibilities as determined



Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from an accredited university or college required 

Required Experience

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who works, in partnership with the Finance and broader business functions, on the accounting operations for the enterprise.

  • Demonstrated experience in the application of accounting principles

  • Minimum of 4 years accounting experience

  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative manner

  • Well organized; self-starter, ability to get things done in a team-oriented environment

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines

  • SAP experience, preferred

  • 2-4 years of Public Accounting experience, required

  • Be well versed in accounting principles and the operational application of them in real-word scenarios

  • Have a solid foundation in accounting, internal controls, and audit
