Peer Recovery Support Worker – Drug Court


Riverbend Community Mental Health, Inc., one of the largest providers of community-based behavioral health services in New Hampshire, is seeking a Recovery Support Worker to join our staff. This position supports clients through stages of change in the Choices Substance Use Services program.

This position requires a person who is grounded in peer-assisted recovery because of his/her life experience with substance use and/or other addictions, as they provide expertise that clinical training cannot replicate. The Peer Recovery Support worker will report to the Drug Court Coordinator and/or Clinical Manager and are fully integrated team members.




Responsibilities


  • Provide support to clients enrolled in Merrimack County Drug Court in recovery-oriented skills, activities of daily living, socialization, and community integration.

  • Engage clients by sharing personal experience, ensuring that self-disclosure is always in support of the client’s needs. Provide individual support as deemed appropriate by program supervisors.

  • Speak with clients’ prior to enrollment in program to educate and motivate for treatment.

  • Encourage hopefulness and motivation by sharing personal experiences of recovery.

  • Participate in the provision of services to people served by co-facilitating groups (in conjunction with clinical staff) to provide support for increased stability in the clients lives through recovery and a better understanding of their symptoms of relapse as well as symptoms of mental illness. Facilitate alumni groups and other Peer lead groups.

  • Report behavioral changes and medication concerns to the treatment team.

  • Maintain healthy boundaries to ensure a high quality and safe therapeutic relationship with clients.

  • Assist case managers with urine toxicology screenings as needed.


Requirements


  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Ability for flexible schedule: this position requires a person be able to work Monday through Friday with varying hours. (1st and 2nd shift availability required).

  • Lived experience with and knowledge of substance use treatment, recovery coaching and other related human services required.

  • Knowledge of the system of care for substance use and mental health treatment, as well as available resources in Merrimack County and surrounding areas preferred.

  • Certification as Recovery Support Worker preferred (or willingness to pursue a CRSW is required).

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills required.

  • Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and auto insurance or access to a reasonable alternative is required.
