HNI Corporation, an industry leader in workplace furnishings and building products, is in search of a RCI Engineer to join our Customer Experience department.

As a RCI Engineer, you will be responsible for process execution and technical application of Business Process Improvement (BPI) culture across span of control with the goal of positively impacting business unit performance, member work experience and profitability.

Some of the essential aspects of the position include:

  • Initiate, drive, and support BPI strategies and lean initiatives.

  • Organize and facilitate Rapid Continuous Improvement events including the prework, follow up, and post event sustainment while instilling quality culture.

  • Develop and maintain site RCI event calendar and RCI event planning processes.

  • Champion and execute BPI Certification Process.

  • Coordinate and work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Sales, customers, and members assisting in process and product improvement plans and status.

  • Assist in management of the Mi Idea program and management of 6S Implementation.

  • Eliminate waste and streamline flow and processes using lean methodologies.

  • Drive visual management into all aspects of manufacturing environment.

  • Participate in projects efficiently and with high-quality expertise in accordance with established time constraints.

  • Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in engineering.

  • Lean manufacturing principles, including Rapid Continuous improvement, 3P, Value Stream Mapping, problem solving, and statistical analysis.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated successful implementation of continuous process improvement programs.

  • Experience with Project Management encompassing start-to-finish planning and execution.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to motivate and influence others, as well as interact productively with members within all levels of the organization and external suppliers and customers.

  • Proficient understanding of capability studies, Production Failure Mode Effect Analysis, A3 and 8D tools.

  • Resourcefulness in problem solving.

  • Ability to react to changing needs, situations, and priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate issues and potential solutions.

  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
