Job Description




Position Summary:
The Payroll Tax team is responsible for all payroll tax activities. As a member of this team, the Payroll Tax Specialist will be responsible for paying and filing all Federal, State and Local payroll taxes. This position will also work to ensure compliance with each tax agency and be responsible for educating the department in potential changes in tax regulation. In addition, this position provides candidates with the opportunity to gain experience in a multi-state payroll environment while also branching out into other areas of the biweekly payroll process.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Process all relevant tax payments i.e. Federal, State Income, State Unemployment etc.


  • Research, Register, Set up and Test multi-state payroll taxes


  • Assist with integration of new companies


  • Perform weekly tax reconciliations and other audits to ensure accuracy and timeliness


  • Research and respond to tax notices in a timely manner whenever needed


  • Complete bi-weekly audits on employee’s local taxes


  • File workers’ compensation premiums for state-regulated programs


  • Utilize Infor/Lawson HRIS to complete payroll/tax tasks


  • Perform tasks related to reporting, W-2 reconciliations, and annual filings


  • Assist with the Payroll Liabilities reconciliation process


  • Recommend, develop and implement process improvements


  • Perform any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the payroll group


  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner


  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate


  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision






Qualifications




Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ):
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.




  • High school diploma or equivalent, 1yr Payroll Tax Experience or Accounting Experience


  • Experience with Lawson HRIS, Oracle HCM and/or other Payroll and Accounting programs preferred


  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail, punctuality, willingness to work potential overtime, ability to work independently, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills preferred, must be able to maintain confidential information.
