Responsibilities:

Maintain Automation Panel Shop operations and provide supervision and support to the Automation Department Electrical Technicians working in the Automation Panel Shop.




Duties/Responsibilities
:


  • Supervises Electrical Technicians and qualified sub-contractors that are performing Panel Fabrication and Skid Wiring work. Supervisory duties include assisting the Automation Team Manager with preparing performance reviews, providing professional guidance\support to the Electrical Technicians, and enforcing disciplinary actions with the approval of the Automation Team Manager.


  • Schedules all Panel Fabrication and Skid Wiring work that is handled through the Automation Panel Shop in conjunction with the Automation Team Manager.


  • Reviews and approves electrical control panel and skid wiring designs prior to fabrication\installation by applying knowledge of electricity, materials, process instrumentation, control equipment, and national\international electrical design standards (NEC, UL, and IEEE).


  • Ensures that the Electrical Technicians/Panel Builders and qualified sub-contractors follow standard documentation and change notice procedures when performing Panel Fabrication and Skid Wiring work.


  • Applies UL certification to all Control Panels.


  • Engages with Purchasing, Shipping\Receiving, Engineering, Plant Supervisors, and other Automation Team Members to ensure the success of all Automation Panel Shop work.


  • Maintains company reputation and excellent product quality by utilizing established components, designs, and procedures while complying with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensures that the Electrical Technicians and qualified sub-contractors utilize project electrical schematics to fabricate control panels and wire skids with the appropriate level of detail.


  • Provides support, as needed, for project estimation, panel fabrication, skid wiring, and other FAT\troubleshooting\commissioning services.


  • Prepares Panel Shop project documentation to be provided to the customer. Communicates with customers, as needed, throughout the course of every project.


  • Supports general project management function by maintaining control over scope and schedule to meet or exceed project deadlines and budgets.


  • Contributes to Automation Team effort by assisting others with their projects and completing non-project related tasks as assigned by the Automation Team Manager.


  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Automation Team Manager.


Qualifications:


Education & Experience
:

Associates Degree in applied technology with over 4 years of automation technician experience is preferred; equivalent combination of education and technical experience or promotion from the Control Engineering Technician II position is acceptable. The individual must have working knowledge of AutoCAD software for the completion of required drawings and a thorough understanding and ability to use all Microsoft software applications. Experience with PLC programming and HMI development is also preferred to ensure a more complete understanding of automated control systems and to also provide additional support, if necessary.
