Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Legal Counsel will be a part of dentsu Americas Legal & Compliance team to provide legal advice on a broad range of topics and facilitate dentsu’s compliance with various federal, state, and local employment laws.  This position will require a collaborative, driven individual, looking for a fast-paced, dynamic and intellectually challenging work environment.  The Legal Counsel will be a member of our in-house employment law and employee relations team within, and with the support of, dentsu’s broader Legal & Compliance team, as well as with various individuals across the business ranging from Human Resources, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Finance Technology and others.  As a part of the employment law and employee relations team this role will collaborate with others to provide a supportive and streamlined experience to our HR leaders and business stakeholders in close alignment with dentsu’s core values and strategic objectives with an eye toward consistency, compliance, and sound change management.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on a broad range of issues at all stages of the employment lifecycle including recruiting, performance management, leaves of absence and accommodations, and individual and group terminations.

  • Review employment-related policies.

  • Assist with employment-related merger or acquisition due diligence.

  • Manage employment related disputes, including demand letters and litigations.

  • Contribute to HR and the business training regarding employment best practices.

  • Keep abreast of legal developments, and work with the Employment Law and Employee Relations Teams to advise Company on same.

  • Create process efficiencies to improve the service to our internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage internal client demands appropriately and comfortable working in an open, dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Exercise of good judgment and business sense, and recognition of when to ask for help or escalate issues.

  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information requiring a high level of discretion, respect, and integrity.

  • Strong time management, project management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects/matters to closure.

  • Excellent communication skills Excellent influencing skills, with proven success establishing solid working relationships with individuals at all levels of seniority.

  • Sensitivity to how people and organizations function and ability to devise approach accordingly.



  • Undergraduate and J.D. degrees.

  • Member in good standing in at least one State Bar.

  • 2-4 years of experience in employment law, with sufficient experience to handle role responsibilities with minimum guidance.

  • Prior in-house experience with a multi-state employer strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with California employment laws is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus.
