Attention professionals looking to return to the workforce after a career break of two years or more!

The State of Utah invites you to apply for our pilot return-to-work program. This 16-week program is similar to an internship and is designed to provide the experience, training, skills, and mentoring needed to successfully return to the workforce after a hiatus. Using a cohort model, participants will navigate this professional and personal life transition together, bolstered by expert group coaching and customized programming.

The program will commence the day after Labor Day, with the first week of the program consisting of learning, development and workplace orientation.

This is an experience-only returnship opportunity. Please note, that while we will provide access to resources that will enable you to explore further employment opportunities, your participation does not guarantee employment with the State of Utah upon conclusion of the program.

To be eligible for this return-to-work opportunity, candidates must:

  • Be on a career break of two or more years at time of application

  • Have prior professional experience in functional area of interest

THE DEPARTMENT OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL IS SEEKING INDIVIDUALS TO APPLY FOR A RETURNSHIP.

The department is looking for candidates with a strong work ethic, who enjoy a challenging, fast paced administrative work environment. You get to learn the behind the scenes magic that makes the DABC run working with members of its purchasing team, Off Premise product approval team, Business Analyst and management team.

As a Returner, you will:


  • Use your customer service skills to interface with vendors and manufacturers of alcoholic beverages.

  • Organize and develop new processes for application/information intake.

  • Perform data entry.

  • Make suggestions for improvements and efficiencies.

  • Participate in mentor activities to strengthen your understanding of state government, professional skills, interpersonal skills, interview skills, and meet other Returners.


The ideal candidate will:


  • Be 21 years of age or older

  • Have a working knowledge of Excel, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Gmail, and interoffice communications.

  • Be able to work 30-40 hours per week

  • Be able to pass a criminal background check

  • Have strong organizational skills

  • Be able to capture application information and organize it


Preference(s)


  • Preference may be given to those with a high school diploma or higher education.

Example of Duties

Other tasks may include, but are not limited to:


  • Sort and organize labels, files, records, and alcoholic product samples.

  • Assists the public and others to locate applications.

  • Coordinate with Program Managers and help provide feedback to applicants regarding status of label approval and small producer applications.

  • Basic data entry tasks using a computer terminal, entering and retrieving easily recognized and coded data from source documents, using coded computer commands to generate limited reports; reviewing source documents to code data for electronic entry; making reservations on a computerized reservation system, scanning paper files and organizing them in a digital database.
