Primary Function


Pivotal resource for educational activities throughout the hospital, with a focus on clinical education.


Responsibilities



  • Plan, coordinate, and teach formal and informal educational activities among care providers consulting with masters prepared education specialists to assess the learning needs and evaluate the impact of learning activities. These activities include, but are not limited to formal and informal programs and just in time clinical education.

  • 30% - Serve as a clinical resource for patient care issues.

  • 30% - Manage educational projects utilizing critical thinking, problem solving, leadership skills, change and transition management strategies under the direction of a masters prepared education specialist.

  • 20% - Serve as educational resource to managers and staff on clinical, hospital-wide, department specific issues including but not limited to orientation and special hospital-wide initiatives.

  • 10% - Serve on various hospital-wide committees as education content resource.

  • 5% - Participate as a team member on selected non-clinical projects.


Job Qualifications and Specifications



  • Rhode Island Nursing License

  • BSN

  • Applicable Sub Specialty requirements below:


ED:



  • Minimum 2-3 years Emergency Department experience

  • ACLS certification

  • PALS certification

  • CEN certification required (or obtained within 12 months from date of hire)


Physical Environment


The job is typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday.


I. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE



  • Plan, coordinate, and teach formal and informal educational activities among care providers consulting with masters prepared education specialists to assess the learning needs and evaluate the impact of learning activities.   • Ensures that hospital policies, rules and regulations related to departmental activities are observed and enforced.

  • Constructs effective and diverse teaching materials for staff education.

  • Manage educational projects utilizing critical thinking, problem solving, leadership skills, change and transition management strategies under the direction of a masters prepared education specialist.

  • Serve as educational resource to managers and staff on clinical, hospital-wide, department specific issues including but not limited to orientation and special hospital-wide initiatives.

  • Serve on various hospital-wide committees as education content resource.

  • Participate as a team member on selected non-clinical projects.

  • Effectively fosters own personal and professional growth through a variety of educational and professional strategies.

  • Maintains accurate records of all education activities.
