This position is responsible for providing technical support for instructional technology, classrooms/labs and other initiatives as needed. This position will collaborate with the Instructional Technologist (Multimedia Leadership) to support the instructional technology needs of the College. This position will work within SCC’s ITS Division to implement and support technical projects in addition to providing outstanding customer service.
This position is a full-time Professional Services position (261-day contract).
Starting salary for the position is $36,000.00 annually.

The Instructional Technology Technician – Multimedia Center will abide by the employment contract and relevant policies and guidelines of the Board of Trustees.

Essential Duties Summary
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Read and follow College policies and procedures.
  • Provide effective and communication to supervisor on all relevant matters in areas of responsibility.
  • Be able to relate and interact in an effective, positive manner with SCC students, employees, vendors, partners and the general public.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Technologist (Multimedia Leadership) to support instructional technology and Multimedia Center operations
  • Support Multimedia Center operations with mobile device integration, configuration, troubleshooting and support.
  • Support SCC ITS Projects and Operations as directed by the Vice President of Technology Services.
  • Provide training, support and troubleshooting for all conferencing systems and methods. (Zoom and other Internet based systems as well as physical conferencing systems.)
  • Collaborate with Instructional Technologist to develop and offer training sessions on relevant topics such as mobile devices and applications, instructional equipment, web based resources, etc.
  • Provide technical support for classroom technologies at all locations. Document and communicate issues until they are resolved.
  • Participate in committees, professional workshops and conferences.
  • Research and integrate emerging technologies into training initiatives.
  • Maintain daily schedule of equipment to be delivered and retrieved.
  • Order and track all multimedia supplies for all locations in SCC district.
  • Assist in production and editing of instructional resources/materials.
  • Maintain instructional equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Update equipment inventories when receiving new equipment and maintain documentation that is easily accessible.
  • Be very organized and document requests, receive instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Communicate all customer concerns to supervisor and follow up with end users to ensure their questions have been addressed.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Mobility sufficient for extensive walking throughout campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree required in IT technical related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in technology position preferred.
  • Experience providing technical training and support services preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with instructional equipment, systems and applications used in the classroom and labs.
  • A+ Certification preferred
  • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician preferred
  • Knowledge of: LAN and WAN technologies, virtual desktop technologies, Microsoft’s Active Directory, operating systems (Windows & Macintosh), mobile technologies (Android, IOS, Windows Mobile), and software (MS Office, Antivirus, Spam, Imaging).
  • Experience with mobile devices, mobile device management and relevant applications for higher education.
  • Knowledge and experience with ADA regulations and compliancy.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to research and adapt to emerging/changing technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (listening, speaking and writing).
  • Must possess a high level of customer service skills to effectively, cooperatively and cordially work with faculty, staff, students and the community in a high paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines while demonstrating initiative and self-motivation.
  • Ability to learn how to use and apply new technologies (audio/video, table computing/projection, software applications and more).
  • Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot instructional equipment.
  • Maintain inventory for equipment in the Multimedia Center and Classrooms.
  • Provide help desk support (i.e. phone, email, user accounts)
  • Must have valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Physical Demands
The Instructional Technology Technician -Multimedia Center must have the ability and mobility to service both campuses; ability to travel to other areas and throughout the college district as needed. Must be able to work on a basis of “available as work demands” in addition to a fixed schedule, which will include evenings and weekends. In addition, the individual in this position will actively promote a positive image for the college district.
