Responsibilities



  • Please note, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Agency is operating in a maximum telework posture for all telework ready employees occupying a telework eligible position.

  • Serves as technical consultant and liaison to network and other IT management and staffs throughout DLA and DoD on the DLA network environment and on networks in general.

  • Serves as an IT Project Manager for DLA Enterprise projects and DLA driven projects.

  • Develops and/or modifies test plans, conducts tests, analyzes test results with respect to the acceptance plan for new or modified hardware and software for the Enterprise Telecommunications Network (ETN).

  • Participates in the design, testing, implementation and maintenance of network security software, hardware, and techniques within DLA.

  • Provides advice, assistance and technical support for introducing new infrastructure components supporting network management services.

Qualifications


To qualify for an IT Specialist (NETWORK/CUSTSPT), your qualifications must include:


A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:



  • Develops technical specifications for Agency-wide procurement of network hardware and software; Coordinates efforts in isolating, analyzing, identifying and resolving difficult network operations problems


For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
