Position Overview



A Health Services Analyst provides data analysis and develops analytic solutions in support of Health Services strategic and operational goals/initiatives. Liaison to Analytics, and other IT teams to perform analysis of cost and utilization of health services, and identification of opportunities and evaluation of health services activities, including, but not limited to Case Management, Pharmacy, Utilization Management, and Quality.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Perform accurate and complete data extraction from our data warehouse and standard data sources to meet project requirements, including cleaning, transformation and pre-processing of data

  • Act as liaison between Health Services and analytics, actuarial services, and IT supporting shared data.

  • Support budget planning by developing staffing models that translate membership growth and workload by skill level.

  • In collaboration with Medical Directors, assess performance of our provider partners in evaluating new and/or existing programs in relation to cost of care and our payer provider partnerships.

  • Develop dashboards and data visualizations using Excel, Power BI and/or Tableau.

  • Present complex data, analysis and findings to teams in a way that is clear and understandable.

  • Responsible for regular reporting, performance measures, and supporting operational effectiveness activities within Health Services.

  • In collaboration with Health Services leadership, identify opportunities for operational improvement in support of strategic goals.

  • Analyze health care data, utilization, quality initiatives, outcome, and performance analysis for clinical programs.

  • Participate in special projects and committees and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Respond to ad-hoc data analysis requests



Supporting Responsibilities:

Work Experience: 3 years’ experience in analytics required. Experience in healthcare analytics strongly preferred.



Education, Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or similar research related field or equivalent work experience required. Related Master Degree preferred.



Knowledge: Understanding of advanced analytics methods (such as navigating complex database structures and advanced querying/data mining). Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines and ability to manage workload within a team environment or without direct supervision. Ability to deal responsibly with confidential information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with both internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in at least one data language such as SQL, Python, SAS and/or R with ability to develop queries, export data to create data visualizations and analysis. Experience with a variety of data mining and reporting tools such as SSRS, SSMAS Tableau and Power BI. Skilled in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements: Stoop and bend. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing core job functions. Repetitive motions to include typing, sorting and filing.
