The Maintenance Helper is responsible for the general cleaning and preventative maintenance of the hotel property.



The principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:




  • Perform the guest room preventative maintenance and general cleaning program on scheduled system per


guidelines by following the General Clean and Preventative Maintenance checklists.


  • Perform preventative maintenance in a timely manner and document in the appropriate system.

  • Monitor and keep systems in place to control costs, keeping within budgetary guidelines.

  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing, electrical components including l


lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, and program TV’s.


  • Be prepared at all times to install, maintain and repair items when a situation arises.

  • Perform daily property walk-through inspections to ensure there are no areas requiring immediate attention.

  • Maintain the building and property by keeping maintenance areas and equipment clean, well-organized, and


properly stocked inventory.


  • Maintain all preventative maintenance records and logs using a computer management system or required


systems.


  • Provide periodic maintenance inventory updates to engineering management when requested or required.

  • Fix minor plumbing problems such as unclogging drains, plunging toilets, and repairing leaky spigots and faucets


using appropriate techniques.


  • Ability to maintain pool operations in compliance with county health department regulations.


In addition, the Maintenance Helper must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job including sitting, bending, climbing, standing, reaching and walking for up to 90% of the workday and lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs.



Required knowledge, skills and abilities:


  • High School Diploma or equivalency and a technical background preferred.

  • Prior experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation, and painting preferred.

  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the job including sitting, bending, climbing, standing, reaching and


walking for up to 90% of the workday and lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs.


  • Perform engineering-related duties and minor troubleshooting of all hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing


systems.


  • Must have excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

  • An independent thinker, able to make decisions based upon information gathered from appropriate resources.
