Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer - Program Protection & Supply Chain Risk Management Technical Lead/SME. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. GBSD program, Mission Defense IPT is seeking a highly motivated and qualified leader to serve as Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management Technical Lead and SME. This person will report directly to the GBSD Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management Manager. This person will own the technical content and technical quality of the Program Protection and SCRM artifacts. In this role, you will be responsible for all of GBSD's Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management technical content. You will manage the technical content and ensure thorough analysis, and will track all of the team deliverables and ongoing technical tasking from creation to completion. You will leverage your expertise as a Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management Engineer to assess and prioritize a broad spectrum of security threats. You will be responsible for key protection activities to include software assurance, hardware assurance/trusted foundry, firmware protection, anti-counterfeit and supply chain risk management to mitigate those attacks. In addition to your strong technical skills, you will be a self-starter with strong time management skills for yourself and your team. Your strong organizational skills and your ability to anticipate future challenges will serve you well. What you'll get to do:



  • Track and review all Program Protection and Supply Chain Risk Management deliverables based on existing schedule, process and delivery requirements to the customer.

  • Ensure all personnel involved in technical content creation have the correct and complete tasking at all times to meet cost, schedule and technical requirements.

  • Ensure all technical activities are captured in appropriate database(s) and agreed upon with the customer.

  • Coordinate all activities related to Working Groups, Summits and other meetings with the customer based on cadence established by the Statement of Work (SOW).

  • Track to completion of SOW requirements, program milestone exit criteria, and program maturity commitments.

You'll bring these qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • A minimum 14 years of systems engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; 12 years with a Master's; or 9 years with a PhD

  • A minimum 3 years of experience leading high performing teams with successful measurable outcomes

  • A minimum 4 years of applying and understanding security best practices in addressing supply chain risks, or program protection threats, mitigations, and countermeasures

  • An active Secret Security Clearance (or higher) with the ability to gain access to a Special Access Program and adjudication in the last 6 years


These qualifications would be nice to have:



  • The ability to show self as team leader, able to multi-task, able to delegate, able to make excellent judgement and show interpersonal skills

  • The ability to communicate effectively and concisely to top management, and clearly present technical approaches and findings

  • Direct experience in conducting supply chain risk management or supply chain security activities, including Supply Chain Risk Management planning and execution

  • Direct experience Reviewing or producing Program Protection Plan(s) or Program Protection Implementation Plan(s)

  • Direct experience in reviewing Counterintelligence Support Plans, Integrated Threat Assessments, Systems Threat Analysis Reports and providing written analysis

  • A solid understanding of Program Protection applicable to US Government Defense Programs, and applied knowledge in the application of Systems Security Engineering principles across a broad spectrum of security measures (Counterfeit Awareness, Anti-Tamper, HW/SW Assurance, OPSEC, etc.) to protect critical program information (CPI)

  • Familiarity with DoDI 5200.39 (CPI Identification and Protection within RDT&E) and DoDI 5200.1-M (Acquisition Systems Protection Program)

  • Direct experience evaluating program processes and compliance strategies for large, complex multi-site programs

  • Ability to regularly brief to stakeholders, including status updates, technical details and approaches, and analysis results

  • Top Secret clearance preferred
