Summary


As am Equipment Specialist, you will serve as a Technical Specialist within a Service Branch, in the Service Center


Location of Position: PBS Region 1, Service Center Division.


We are currently filling one vacancy in the locations listed, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Responsibilities




  • Performs equipment inspections, analysis and maintenance evaluations, analysis, performance profile surveys, technical troubleshooting, work performance and maintenance evaluations, policy studies and revisions recommendations, staffing and workload analysis of contractor proposed staffing, and prepares contract specifications, and makes major/minor repair program funding recommendations in a staff capacity adjunct with field office operations in Government owned and leased buildings relative to all types of mechanical systems, and associated equipment.




  • Conducts Building Assessments to determine equipment status and prepares reports using Building Assessment Tool to ensure the life cycle of building systems are determined.




  • Assists in the development of the 5 year Repair and Alteration plans by providing cost estimates on repairs.




  • Assists in Contract Administration by furnishing technical direction and evaluation of operations and maintenance in Federal Buildings. Prepares, monitors, inspects and assists in the administration of a variety of contract specifications for maintenance.



  • Develops guidelines and makes recommendations for safety reporting and safety program implementation. Develops, analyzes and implements standards of safety as well as national safety codes for, other building systems and associated equipment and accident-free operations.

The salary is dependent upon the duty location for which your are selected.


If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.


To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in the operation and maintenance of high rise office buildings or commercial facilities. Qualifying experience is: surveying building and building envelope systems/equipment and their usage in order to prepare evaluative reports and recommendations to determine methods of improvement; and/or operating, installing, repairing and maintaining one or more of the following systems and/or equipment: heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, pumping, sewage, domestic water, or integrated alarms.
