The Email Marketing Program Manager is responsible for providing day-to-day strategic oversight and guidance on email marketing programs as well as driving the execution of email marketing tactics, from planning through deployment and analysis, across the organization based on direction provided by the strategic business segment partners and customer needs.


  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to execute CRM strategies, including customer journeys and ongoing lead-nurturing automations using Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Ensures daily work activities and participation in short-term and long-term projects/initiatives align with the Enterprise Mission, Vision, and Strategy. Provides overall goals; develops, updates, and maintains work plans. May delegate tasks to others (as appropriate) on projects with varying levels of complexity. May provide back-up support for management as needed.

  • Functions as a positive role model, strong coach, and change agent for team members and in support of direction provided by department leadership. Advocates and leads change, supports team building, recognizes contributions and celebrates accomplishments.

  • Serves as a trusted advisor and influences key organizational players by education and offering email marketing recommendations to a variety of levels across the organization.

  • Works with department leadership to assist in prioritizing strategic and departmental email marketing projects and initiatives in support of business objectives. Cultivates collaborative working relationships to manage complex projects resulting in high quality deliverables and actionable insights.

  • Recommends projects, strategies, testing plans for optimization, and key performance indicators, assisting leadership in sharing these with team members and monitoring campaign performance against these indicators.

  • Champions continuous advancement of email marketing capabilities including targeting, personalization, and creative development in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, designers, developers, business teams and at the direction of department leadership.

  • Works with the Email Marketing Technology Manager, Email Marketing Specialists, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Partners and internal teams to create and implement email marketing strategy.

  • Manages ongoing campaigns by coordinating the email calendar with the overall marketing calendar, including monitoring to prevent over-mailing to subscribers or violations in CAN-SPAM compliance.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to execute assigned campaigns, ensuring campaign accuracy, effectiveness, and adherence to campaign best practices.

  • Troubleshoots delivery issues and works closely with team members and cross-functional partners to ensure our email marketing reputation remains in good standing.

  • Performs competitive analysis on a regular basis to stay current within the financial services industry and assigned business segment partners in order to provide recommendations and guidance regarding email marketing needs, future objectives, and resources needed to achieve success.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud/CRM

  • Experience developing strategies for advanced list segmentation, workflows and triggered events

  • Experience with lifecycle email marketing campaigns

  • Knowledge of APIs and system-to-system integrations

  • Strong working knowledge of front-end web technologies and capabilities, as well as experience working hands-on with HTML and CSS

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics or other tag-based Web analytics/tracking solutions

  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines, prioritize projects and keep the team informed on project status

  • Ability to plan and prioritize multiple email marketing programs and deliver against goals and deadlines

  • Strong ability to influence others, foster teamwork and create a motivating environment

  • Proven ability to effectively work cross functionally within a large organization and with external partners

  • Familiar with planning, implementing and analyzing email marketing initiatives across multiple channels

  • Proven experience and knowledge of email marketing best practices and industry legislation

  • Analytical thinker with proven ability to present insights

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Self-motivated with effective problem-solving skills


  • 2-3 years' experience guiding daily team activities, providing mentorship and coaching with daily tasks and leadership assignments.

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university.

  • At least one year of hands-on experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud to deploy email messages.

  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategy, marketing campaigns, advertising and the financial services industry.

  • Strong project management skills and experience coordinating cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Journey Builder journey creation, Marketing Cloud Connect integration management, Data Extensions, AmpScript code to implement personalization and Automation Studio.

  • Knowledge of basic SQL, including join statements.
