The Digital Creative Director sets the voice and vision for Atria's digital marketing efforts and leads a team of creative professionals to execute on time and on budget. These efforts include establishing digital strategy, designing and drafting digital content, and collaborating with developers to communicate content across various channels (e.g., website, email, digital advertisements). They will work in tandem with the Atria Marketing and Creative teams to collaborate on national brand campaigns that integrate both digital and traditional print media. This individual is responsible for managing and developing a team of creative employees, including UI/UX designers and digital copywriters, with the goal of creating value for the company through digital communications.

  • Establish the creative vision for Atria's digital marketing efforts.

  • Lead a team of digital creative professionals to support digital marketing goals.

  • Own the creation of digital content from start to finish, including partnering with the Marketing team to set strategy, managing the digital creative team to translate strategy into design/copy, and collaborating with the digital development team to deliver content.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, external clients, and Atria communities to create value for the business through digital communication.

  • Listen, ask, prioritize, and translate internal situations, marketing goals, and information into strategic brand concepts, voice, messages, and rationales.

  • Lead strategic and creative brainstorming sessions and provide recommendations regarding digital content.

  • Create engaging, relevant, unexpected, thoughtful, bold, and original content and concepts for use in Atria's digital channels.

  • Utilize industry best practices to develop related content for multiple platforms, such as websites, social channels, and email marketing.

  • Independently research industry trends, both within the senior living space and the broader marketing world, and incorporate learnings into future work

  • Analyze content marketing metrics and make changes as needed.

  • Independently perform research to develop a range of content for multiple target audiences.

  • Ensure copy and design work enforces a consistent brand voice that champions the Atria brand.

  • Champion and support the Agile Kanban development process used by the digital team.

  • Manage internal projects related to the improvement of the digital team.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, developing, performance managing, and evaluating the digital creative team members.

  • Manage outside resources, including vendors, photographers, printers, freelancers, web and interactive sub-contractors.

  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college or university or equivalent work experience.

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in UX/UI design and/or written communications, preferably in an agency setting.

  • Prior management experience, including a demonstrated ability to lead a team.

  • Demonstrated success making decisions that reflect deep thinking and a balance of enthusiasm, insight, judgment and discretion.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven storytelling ability, ability to create effective communication marketing, advertising copy and corporate messaging.

  • Knowledge of digital marketing tactics, including SEO, SEM/PPC (Google Ads) content, email marketing, and web analytics.

  • Strong digital portfolio.

  • Proficiency in Figma/Sketch/Illustrator, WordPress, Google Docs, and Microsoft Suite.

  • Must possess excellent analytical skills, positive attitude and high level of enthusiasm and resilience.

  • Strong collaborative, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively, multi-task and prioritize.

  • Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, analytical, flexible, fast paced and able to meet deadlines.
