Herschel Parts, Inc. located in Indianola, Iowa, is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Customer Service Representative.


Position Summary:


Under direction of supervisory staff; employee will input customer orders, research order information, answer incoming phone calls, conduct outbound phone calls and assist customers with all but the most technical questions, promoting excellent customer service and maximizing sales.


Essential Functions of the Job:




  • Develops prompt and courteous telephone communication skills.




  • Learns and becomes familiar with all product lines and applications and is able to make product suggestions on a limited basis.




  • Develops proficiency and accuracy in all aspects of the order entry function, including promptly taking and entering orders received from customers.




  • Researches information and communicates with other departments, as necessary, in responding to customer inquiries.




  • Assists customers with product return situations and provides customers with the necessary RGA (Returned Goods Authorization) information. May approve returns at a level authorized by supervisor.




  • Provides product-pricing information as requested.




  • May promote special order programs to customers to maximize sale potential.




  • Performs other administrative duties as directed by supervisor.



  • Maintains Outbound Call Log.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):




  • Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written. Good Human Relations skills necessary.




  • Must be able to prioritize work schedule, work under pressure, and meet goals/objectives.




  • Ability to problem solve and persuade is essential.




  • Good computer and math skills required.




  • Must be able to read and understand reference books, price books, parts listing and other information sources.




  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.



  • Must be able to work overtime, including Holidays and weekends.


Education and Experience:


High School diploma or equivalent with previous data entry experience preferred


1-3 years of customer service experience; preferably in agricultural equipment sales/customer service


Working Conditions:


Primarily in an office environment indoors with frequent sitting for extended periods of time with occasional lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds alone and/or with mechanical assistance. Primary duties require sufficient manual dexterity and visual/auditory acuity to operate standard office equipment, read and interprets product catalogs, and assist customers.
