Job Description

This individual will operate as a tactical leader and CI subject matter expert, transforming the on-boarding and training of our manufacturing production employees in continuous improvement and lean methodologies. This new role is being funded to drive the creation and execution of consistent and successful production processes, systems, deliverables and most importantly, results (cost reduction) across the plant.


  • Work with the manufacturing leadership and stakeholders to develop a scalable, AMI Production System (APS) to quickly replicate success and continuously improve and standardize production processes across product lines, and supporting functions focused on removing waste (cost reduction).

  •  Responsible for the administration of continuous improvement programs, coordination of training, management of training resources.

  • Prepare and maintain training and reference documentation (APS training materials) pertaining plant manufacturing site, and supporting indirect processes.

  • Assist managers in the creation of standards of on the job training to facilitate a common experience for all new hires and current employees.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Assist in the development of a robust training program for the plant, focusing initially on new hire assimilation and employee retention, and advancing to supervisory skills, team leader, and management competencies in support of APS.

  • Together with the site stakeholders, plan and execute successful new hire on-boarding and job proficiency training programs and events.

  • Build strong working relationships across the organization to enhance the visibility of training function and its role as a key contributor to the success of the business

  • Evaluate organizational performance to ensure that training is meeting business needs and improving overall plant performance

  • Systems thinking; able to recognize patterns and trends in data, content, and customer needs which will drive employee satisfaction and employee development.

  • Successfully deal with a fast-paced environment with competing priorities across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Verify the implementation of solutions to prevent and eliminate repeat issues in safety, quality, or performance.

  • Assist Production Manager’s with training & coaching of shop floor personnel including Supervisor’s, and team Leaders to motivate subordinates in the importance of full compliance within the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

  • Recommend and support changes in work methods processes adding procedures and systems to improve safety and efficiency within manufacturing.   Recommend measures to improve production methods, and equipment performance.

  • Coach and mentor Production Manager’s, Supervisors, team leads and Team Members for increased performance using the appropriate standards of business conduct.

Technical Skills:

  • Complex Problem Solving - Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.  Use of problem solving methodologies for tracking purposes is necessary. (5-Why’s, PDCA, A3s, Statistics)

  • Metrics Tracking - Maintain operations data such as safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost/productivity, and prepare management reports of production results using Pareto charts as it relates to continuous improvement

  • Critical Thinking - Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Management of Material Resources – Recommending, coaching, and mentoring; assuring the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to perform work. Escalation of issues through appropriate channels.



  • Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent work experience. MBA if possible.

  • Experience in training curriculum development, facilities training and lean manufacturing.
