The Cloud Solution Architect is responsible for leading the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of company initiatives in cloud computing and automation, with a focus on the design of systems and services that run on cloud platforms.



The Senior Cloud Architect reports into the IT Infrastructure and Operations organization and would be embedded into the Cloud-DevOps effort to provide architectural leadership and best practices. Application transformation decisions will use COTS, MOTS or custom-developed web applications hosted on Azure/AWS service models such as IaaS, PaaS, IPaaS and SaaS.



Additionally, the Cloud Solution Architect will be responsible for ensuring that critical applications are designed, monitored, optimized, and automated for desired availability, security, and disaster recovery.




The position requires strong interpersonal, technical, and large-scale technology implementation skills, and must be able to collaborate effectively with both IT and business groups.


Responsibilities:

  • Leverage Cloud environment and service-oriented architecture principles to define and own Solution Architecture (infrastructure, applications, and data technologies)


  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to design a full-stack solution using software that fully integrates with company’s cloud infrastructure from data flow, security, DevOps, and other standpoints


  • Propose suggestions and best practices to optimize company’s cloud presence, performance, security, and cost


  • Responsible for the evaluation of technical risks and map out mitigation strategies


  • Responsible for the creation of a well-informed cloud strategy and administer the adoption process


  • Evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software at regular intervals


  • Responsible for scanning emerging technologies and trends, spotting the cloud architecture solutions to effectively meet the strategic needs of the company


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience


  • Minimum 7 years’ experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, network management, application development, database management, or operations.


  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services, Office 365, and Teams


  • Experience with Microsoft software and development ecosystem, including .NET, ASP, SQL DB, and IPaaS integrations


  • Experience as a team lead preferred


  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, and VMWare enterprise implementations


  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments


  • Knowledge of all components of a technical architecture


  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes


  • Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies


  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills in working with external and internal users

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences


  • Ability to manage third parties, interpreting and analyzing capabilities, performance, contracts, and statements of work

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint required
